The story, neutrally told

Peacock has set December 17 as the premiere date for Ted: The Animated Series, launching with eight episodes. More episodes are due in 2027. Seth MacFarlane again voices Ted, while Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth reprise their film roles as John, Sam and Tami-Lynn.

Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman join as new characters Apollo and Ruth. The show is set 12 years after Ted 2, with John and Ted as neighbours with families and dead-end jobs. MacFarlane, Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh created it, Rough Draft Studios provides the animation, and Universal Global Television and MRC produce.

It is the second Ted series on Peacock, after a live-action prequel that ran two seasons; Variety reports MacFarlane has said there are no plans for a third season given the high cost. Collider says the teaser shows John and Ted in 2D animation for the first time, and A.V. Club says Ted boasts that nothing is off-limits because of the animated format. The first film grossed about $549 million in 2012 and the 2015 sequel about $216 million, according to Collider.
