The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) announced on Sunday 25 October that Moscow will host the 2030 World Weightlifting Championships. Centre · 2It is the first time an Olympic federation has chosen to stage a global event in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine began in 2022. Centre · 2The IWF announced the hosts of four world championships at junior, youth and senior levels, including Ahmedabad, India for the 2029 senior event.

Centre · 1IWF general secretary Jose Quinones said all the bids were excellent and that the championships in the respective countries would be a huge success. Centre · 2Moscow last hosted the championships in 1983, and, according to the BBC, no world championships in an Olympic sport have been held in Russia since the war began; the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, initially awarded to Kazan, were moved to Singapore. Centre · 2The decision came four months after the IWF confirmed Russian athletes would again be eligible for its events, and after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) provisionally lifted its suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee in July, potentially opening the way for Russians at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Centre · 1The Russian Weightlifting Federation said it was the first Olympic sports federation to bring a top-level official competition back to the country in many years, and its president Aleksandr Vinokurov thanked the IWF on Telegram, saying Russia has the experience and infrastructure to host at the highest level. Centre · 1The championships will also be a qualifying event for the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, according to the BBC. Centre · 1The IOC said in July that no decision had been taken on Russia displaying its flag, colours and anthem at the Olympics, and that it would not organise IOC events in Russia; Ukraine has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to annul the IOC's decision.

Framing
Both outlets lead with the first-since-invasion milestone. The BBC adds context on IOC conditions, Ukraine's appeal and the Russian federation's response; Anadolu is a short report that calls the award a step in Russia's reintegration into international sport.
Emphasis
The precedent for Russia's return to hosting; the IOC's July decision; the 2029 Ahmedabad award.
Leaves out or plays down
Anadolu omits Ukraine's CAS appeal, the IOC's limits on events in Russia and reaction from Russian officials. Neither quotes Ukrainian or other critical reaction to the award.
