The story, neutrally told

Netflix announced on Tuesday that six more actors have joined its hockey romance series Icebreaker. The new cast members are Gabriel Tierney as Aaron, Auliʻi Cravalho as Lola, newcomer and professional athlete Peter Berry as Robbie, Chaneil Kular as JJ, Devin Craig as Henry and Aidan Shaw as Russ. They join the previously announced leads Daisy Jelley, who plays Anastasia "Stassie" Allen, and Connor Simos, who plays Nate Hawkins.

The series is based on Hannah Grace's novel Icebreaker, the first book in her college-set Maple Hills series, about a college figure skater and a hockey player who are forced to share a rink. Amanda Lasher is showrunner, co-writer and executive producer, and Jade Bartlett is credited as creator. Alex Cooper's Unwell Productions is also executive producing, along with Cooper, Matt Kaplan, a third producer named Meena Lefevre by The Hollywood Reporter and Mina Lefevre by Deadline, and Grace herself.

The Hollywood Reporter places the greenlight after two successful hockey romance series, Heated Rivalry and Prime Video's Off Campus. Deadline notes that no release date has been set and that Netflix has another hockey book adaptation, The Sticks, in the works.
