The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Oregon coach Dan Lanning announced on Monday, Oct. 26, that quarterback Dante Moore will miss the rest of the 2026 college football season. Right · 1Moore suffered a concussion on Sept. 26 in Oregon's 41-27 win over USC in Los Angeles, when USC's Desman Stephens II hit Moore in the head on a late play as Moore slid after a scramble, according to IJR; Moore was down several minutes, stretchered off and taken from the stadium by ambulance. Centre · 1Newsweek reports Moore was not initially projected to miss much time but ended up missing the last three games, and that Moore has not been officially cleared to play in games.

Right · 1Lanning said: "If it was up to Dante, in any shape, way, he would want to be out there playing for the guys, but unfortunately, it's not really up to Dante. It's not really up to me." Mixed · 2Lanning said he expects Moore to make a full recovery, and that the decision is not a selfish one by Moore driven by the team's disappointing season. Mixed · 2Moore has recently practiced and Lanning said Moore "looked good", and Moore will keep helping the team prepare for opponents, though not in games.

Mixed · 2Before the injury, Moore had thrown for 926 yards and nine touchdowns with no interceptions in four games, completing 69.7% of passes per Newsweek, after returning to Oregon rather than entering the NFL draft as a potential top-10 pick. Mixed · 2Moore has one season of eligibility remaining, and Newsweek says his 2027 draft status is now in limbo because scouts may be less interested after only four games this season; last season Moore led Oregon to a 13-2 record with 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns. Right · 1Oregon is 4-3 after opening the season ranked No. 2 and has since dropped out of the AP Top 25; IJR reports offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer was fired after a loss to Illinois.

Mixed · 2IJR says Dylan Raiola has started since Moore's injury, while Newsweek says Raiola and Brock Thomas have both started and struggled, with Raiola benched for Thomas after a loss to UCLA, Thomas benched late against Nebraska, and Raiola starting against Illinois; Lanning had not named a starter for Saturday's game against ranked Northwestern.
