The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Peacock will premiere the two-part documentary "OJ's Accomplice" on Nov. 1, earlier than the December date it had been given. Mixed · 2The film explores the possibility that O.J. Simpson did not act alone on the night of June 12, 1994, when his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were murdered. Left · 1Peacock also released a first look with footage from inside the courtroom and a new eyewitness account.

Mixed · 2Interviewees include original defense investigator Pat McKenna, lead detective Tom Lange, DEA agent Robert Brisolari, Kato Kaelin and Nicole Brown's sister Tanya Brown; Variety also lists Simpson's original defense team. Mixed · 2Deadline says the move follows a New York Times investigation published earlier this month, and that Peacock wanted to take advantage of the topic being in the zeitgeist; Variety gives no reason for the change. Centre · 1According to Deadline, the Times piece was based on records showing a "prized government informant had told law enforcement key information about the killings, including the supposed location of the murder weapon and details about Mr. Simpson's efforts to evade prosecution".

Centre · 1Peacock says the film "challenges the dominant narrative" and offers "real evidence" that what was thought known about the case "could be all wrong"; this is the streamer's own claim, not independently verified in the coverage. Left · 1The documentary is directed by Ari Mark and Sumit David, who also executive produce, and produced by Ample Entertainment; Sphere Abacus handles licensing and distribution. Centre · 1Simpson was acquitted of both murders in 1995 after an eight-month trial, though a jury in a civil suit brought by Goldman's father later found him responsible for the deaths.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
