The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran told Collider that fans should hear about a possible second season of HBO's Lanterns "before the end of the year". Mixed · 2Safran did not announce a renewal, and Variety noted that the show has not yet been renewed. Centre · 1He said a second season will be decided by whether the writers' room comes up with "a worthy successor to a beloved and great first season". Asked by Collider's Steve Weintraub whether that was the deciding factor, and whether it was what they were waiting on, he answered "Yes" both times.

Mixed · 2Asked what he took from the first season, Safran said the most gratifying part was that it brought Green Lantern back into public conversation after the property had been "somewhat irradiated since 2011". Centre · 1Safran declined to say whether John Stewart charging the ring at the end of the finale means Hal Jordan is fully dead, saying: "I can't weigh in on what it means when he charges the ring at the end of the season." Left · 1The eight-episode first season finished on Oct. 4. According to Variety, the finale resolved who killed Hal Jordan, revealed the second Manhunter, and showed how John Stewart becomes Earth's sole Green Lantern in the forthcoming "Man of Tomorrow".

Left · 1Variety reported that the seventh episode drew 7 million U.S. viewers in its first three days, and that earlier episodes averaged over 12 million U.S. viewers, nearly 19 million with international viewing.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
