The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) said in a new report, published on 8 October 2026, that Gaza has no fully functioning hospital a year after the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Centre · 1PHRI said 14 of Gaza's 36 hospitals were operating partially in October 2025 and 20 are now, but none can operate fully. Centre · 2It said intensive care capacity rose by one bed, from 103 to 104, and that dialysis is available at 12 per cent of facilities in July 2026 against 17 per cent in October 2025. It also said Gaza has no MRI services.

Centre · 1Citing data from Israel's COGAT, PHRI said 69 per cent of medical supplies approved for entry into Gaza between January and May 2026 did not actually enter. Centre · 2On medical evacuations, PHRI said about 3,423 patients left Gaza between 10 October 2025 and mid-September 2026, three to six times fewer than before the war, when 50 to 100 patients left each day. Gaza's Ministry of Health reports that at least 1,570 patients, including 264 children, died while waiting for evacuation. Centre · 2The articles give different World Health Organization figures for attacks on health care in the first seven months of the ceasefire: The National cites 128 attacks on medical facilities, while Anadolu, relaying PHRI, cites at least 143 additional attacks on health care.

Centre · 2According to WHO Health Cluster figures cited by PHRI, Israeli forces killed at least 1,422 Palestinians and injured 5,150 between the ceasefire announcement and the end of September 2026. The National separately reports more than 1,400 people killed in near-daily Israeli attacks. Centre · 2Milena Ansari, who wrote the report and directs PHRI's Occupied Territories Department, said the ceasefire "did not stop the genocide" but changed how it is carried out. PHRI said Israeli restrictions on medicine and equipment, limits on treatment abroad and obstruction of repairs to the health system were part of a pattern of alleged genocide. Centre · 1The ceasefire began on 10 October 2025 under a peace plan backed by US President Donald Trump. The war began with the Hamas-led attack of 7 October 2023, in which militants killed nearly 1,200 people and took about 250 hostage, and more than 74,000 Palestinians have since been killed, according to The National.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
