The story, neutrally told

Pop band Hear'Say announced on Thursday 1 October that they are reuniting, more than two decades after they split. The announcement came through a new Instagram account for the band, which shared a screen-recorded WhatsApp chat between Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, Danny Foster and Noel Sullivan. In the chat, Sullivan asks, "Fancy getting the band back together?", and the caption reads "25 years later…".

Followers are urged to sign up for updates and a "presale", which both outlets read as a sign that live dates are planned. Myleene Klass, the fifth original member, is not in the line-up. The account follows all five members, but only four appear in the video. GB News reports that Klass said on Loose Women in July that she backs the reunion but cannot commit to it "right at this moment", and that she thinks it is "very hard to replicate the feeling of the first time".

The post came 24 years to the day after the band split on 1 October 2002, and 25 years after the group formed on ITV's Popstars. GB News adds that the debut single Pure & Simple sold more than 550,000 copies and was the fastest-selling debut in history at the time. It also says the second album failed to match that success. GB News also quotes fans who reacted enthusiastically on Instagram.
