The story, neutrally told

The Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise visit to Sir Kevin Sinfield in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on Tuesday, the third day of his endurance challenge for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities. Sinfield is attempting seven ultramarathons in seven days between Hull and Manchester, which he says will be his final fundraising challenge. It is inspired by his former teammate Rob Burrow, who died from MND in 2024 aged 41. Catherine told him, "What you're doing is so inspiring – the unity that you're building", and William urged him to "hold yourself together for another few days".

The BBC reported that the couple made a private donation and had earlier met families affected by MND and visited Leeds Rhinos. The Mirror quoted William telling Sinfield to rest and have a shower. On Wednesday's fourth day, the Mirror reported, Sinfield had raised more than £760,000 towards a £777,777 target. He called the day "the toughest of the lot" after covering more than 54km to Huddersfield. Hundreds of MND Association supporters joined him for an extra mile at Bradford Park Avenue's ground, and he told them their support meant a great deal to him and his team.

The challenge ends on Saturday at Old Trafford ahead of the Super League Grand Final. Princess Anne had also backed the run on Monday at the University of York. Both outlets say Sinfield has raised about £11m in earlier challenges. The Mirror adds that he and Burrow have raised £30m between them.
