The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Pippa Harris, producer of Sam Mendes' "The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event", explained the release plan for the four films at the BFI London Film Festival on 12 October 2026. Centre · 1All four films are due in cinemas in April 2028; Harris said "we want people to be able to experience them in the cinema at the same time, during the same period." Mixed · 2She said this does not mean audiences would see all four films on one day; within the month they might watch one a week or space them across weekends, and she hopes people will see all four.

Left · 2Outlets describe the schedule differently: Variety says the films are "hitting cinemas simultaneously", while The Hollywood Reporter says they are slated to release a week apart within April. Mixed · 2Harris said the films "stand alone as individual stories of each of those four men" but have "a cumulative power" greater than the sum of their parts, and called the Beatles "the greatest band in history", which she gave as the reason for four films. Left · 1Variety reported that the strategy has made several people in the industry "scratch their heads in wonder".

Mixed · 2Harris said filming was on "day 180", having stepped away from set for the session. She declined to give specifics about the films, and The Hollywood Reporter said she joked that cast members have been told not to discuss the secret project. Mixed · 2Paul Mescal plays Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson plays John Lennon, Joseph Quinn plays George Harrison and Barry Keoghan plays Ringo Starr, with Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne writing and Sony Pictures Entertainment backing the films. Centre · 1Deadline said this is the first time The Beatles and Apple Corps have authorised the use of the band members' life stories and music in scripted films.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
