The story, neutrally told

Etihad Rail, Q Mobility and Parkin have signed a strategic partnership to develop and operate smart parking facilities across Etihad Rail's passenger station network in the UAE. In the first phase, Q Mobility will operate parking at the Abu Dhabi, Al Dhaid and Fujairah stations, while Parkin will operate parking at the Dubai station. The companies said the system will use digital technology, artificial intelligence and data to manage parking capacity and traffic flow and to ease movement between road and rail, with digital payment options across the network.

The National reports that vehicles are detected automatically on entry and exit, with fees based on length of stay and, in some cases, entry time. At Dubai's Al Yalayis Station the first 15 minutes are free, then Dh5 per hour, with Dh30 for five hours or more and Dh40 for overnight parking from 1am to 5am. At Abu Dhabi's Mohamed bin Zayed City Station the first 15 minutes are free, then Dh5 per hour; stays over two hours cost Dh15 for up to 24 hours for entries between 6am and 2am, or Dh20 for entries between 2am and 6am, with Dh20 for each further 24 hours.

At Fujairah Station the first 15 minutes are free, up to one hour costs Dh5, and more than one hour up to 24 hours costs Dh10, with Dh10 per additional 24 hours; parking at Al Dhaid is free for now. Azza Alsuwaidi, Etihad Rail's chief operating officer, said the partnership gives passengers convenient access to stations and enhances mobility options as the network expands. Q Mobility chief executive Mohamed Husain Karmastaji and Parkin chief executive Mohamed Al Ali, quoted by The National, said the deal fits their focus on innovation and AI and brings Parkin's digital parking solutions into the national rail network.
