The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2In Bloomberg's report on the making of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games' Phil Hooker said the "engine, the tools and the team we've built during this project will allow us to do things more quickly." Mixed · 2Hooker also said he was confident Rockstar could build on GTA VI and "go more sideways than upwards to build more compelling content." Left · 1GTA VI took eight years to make and arrives 13 years after GTA V; it launches on 19 November on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Mixed · 2The Verge noted that the report points to the one-year gap between Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City, possible because the framework was already in place; Screen Rant likewise cited Vice City, released in 2002 less than a year after GTA 3, while noting modern productions are far more complex. Centre · 1Screen Rant reported that Aaron Garbut indicated Rockstar would keep the foundational GTA VI work rather than dismantle it after launch. Centre · 1Rockstar has not announced its next game, whether it will be another GTA, a new Red Dead Redemption or something else, or any release date, and Screen Rant said the remarks are an indication of plans, not an announcement.

Left · 1The Verge listed other details from the report: a dedicated NPC studio was built after the team found it lacked the "production capabilities" for the game's characters, contributing to the delay; publishing head Jennifer Kolbe said development cost no more than $1.5 billion; Garbut likened the 2022 leak to "somebody's wading through your dirty washing"; and staff rose from 2,441 in 2018 to 4,711 across 12 offices.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
