The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The Denver Broncos beat the Seattle Seahawks 17-14 in overtime on Thursday night, moving to 4-2 on the season. Mixed · 2Quarterback Bo Nix completed 17 of 27 passes for 107 yards, a performance Newsweek said was arguably the worst of his NFL career. Mixed · 2On the postgame broadcast, former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said Nix "is not playing competitively" and that it was "almost disrespectful to the quarterback position how he’s playing football right now."

Mixed · 2Fitzpatrick said Nix did not want to throw the ball downfield and had "no trust from his coach", Sean Payton. He cited a throwaway on a third-and-8 screen play, and two chances in overtime to be competitive, the last a designed run. Centre · 1Newsweek quotes Fitzpatrick adding that he did not know whether Nix is still injured, but that "it’s not good enough. It’s effort." Right · 1Fox News's Outkick column said the rant caught the rest of the broadcast crew off guard, including Richard Sherman. It cited a CBS researcher, Doug Clawson, who ranks Nix last of 701 qualified quarterbacks over two decades in average pass length (4.9 air yards per attempt), and said the Broncos had seven straight punts at one point and eight three-and-outs.

Centre · 1Newsweek put the game in season context: Nix is on pace for 2,972 yards and 17 touchdowns after back-to-back seasons of 3,700 yards and 25 or more touchdowns. Denver's offense has struggled despite trading a first-round pick to Miami for receiver Jaylen Waddle. Right · 1The Outkick writer called Fitzpatrick's criticism fair, saying "Nothing he said was wrong." He suggested Nix may still be feeling the effects of an ankle injury from last January.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
