The story, neutrally told

Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles and four drones launched by Yemen's Houthis toward southern Saudi Arabia on Thursday 1 October, the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said one ballistic missile was intercepted over Khamis Mushait and another over Jazan, while all four drones were destroyed over Khamis Mushait. Saudi Civil Defense said fragments from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Khamis Mushait after it was launched toward residential areas, damaging several buildings and vehicles; the statement reported no casualties.

Al-Maliki said the coalition would continue to take operational measures to deter what he called the "terrorist Houthi militia". The attack came hours after the coalition announced that an investigation had found the Houthis were behind a drone strike on the Taiba power distribution station in Madinah early Tuesday, which knocked one transformer out of service but did not affect the wider grid, according to the coalition. The UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan condemned the Madinah attack, and the Gulf Cooperation Council reaffirmed solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Arab News reported that the Houthis have stepped up missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia in recent weeks; on Saturday Saudi forces intercepted two drones aimed at Riyadh and two missiles fired toward Khamis Mushait, and two days earlier six ballistic missiles launched toward Yanbu and Taif were intercepted.
