The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Saudi Arabia will raise the monthly salary threshold at which a Saudi private-sector employee counts as one full worker under the Nitaqat Saudisation programme to SR5,000 on 25 April 2027 and SR6,000 on 25 April 2028, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as relayed by Gulf News. Centre · 1The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced the change in two phases, to give private-sector employers time to prepare. Centre · 1The ministry said the change does not require businesses to automatically raise Saudi employees' pay; the thresholds only decide whether an employee is counted in full when calculating the share of Saudis employed.

Right · 1The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) separately announced that the minimum wage eligible under its Employment Support Program will rise in step, from SR4,000 to SR5,000 for new applications from 25 April 2027, and to SR6,000 from 25 April 2028. Right · 1For existing support applications, the higher thresholds apply from support payments for May 2027 and May 2028 respectively. Right · 1The fund said it will keep covering up to 50% of Saudi employees' monthly wages, capped at SR3,000 a month, and described the aim as encouraging private firms to hire Saudis and improving job quality and stability.

Right · 1Arab News presents the fund's move as coinciding with the ministry's phased Nitaqat decision; Nitaqat classifies private companies by their compliance with Saudi-hiring requirements.
