The story, neutrally told

Scott Foley has joined the recurring cast of Apple TV's Shrinking for Season 4, according to an exclusive from Deadline. He joins series stars Jason Segel, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams, and Deadline cites sources close to production saying he will play a therapy patient; TVLine says details are scarce and relays Deadline's report. Shrinking comes from creators Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Segel and follows Jimmy Laird (Segel), a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks.

Season 4 also adds Judith Light in a recurring role, and the expanding cast includes Christian Slater, Karen Gillan, and new additions Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox. The show is produced for Apple TV by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein are under overall deals. Foley has worked with Lawrence before, on Scrubs, Cougar Town, Undateable and Whiskey Cavalier.

He recently signed on as a series regular in the Hulu pilot Young Americans, playing the US president, and will return as Sean Kelly in the second season of ABC's Scrubs revival, which TVLine says begins October 7. His recent work includes the Amazon series It's Not Like That and ABC's Will Trent.
