The story, neutrally told

Left · 1Several countries have warned their citizens against travel to Saudi Arabia after a series of Houthi attacks on airports in the kingdom. Left · 1Australia and New Zealand issued advisories on Monday, following similar warnings from the United States, Canada, the UK, South Korea and Japan. Left · 1Australia told citizens to avoid King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and to "reconsider" travel to other Saudi airports, while New Zealand urged citizens not to travel to the Riyadh airport or the provinces of Najran, Jazan and Asir, and to avoid non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia as a whole.

Left · 1The US embassy in Riyadh advised Americans on Sunday to reconsider travel, citing the threat of attacks by Iran and the Iran-backed Houthis; Canada advised against non-essential travel to any part of the country; and South Korea recommended that citizens leave unless on essential business. Mixed · 2The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advised against all but essential travel to Jeddah and Dammam and to all Saudi airports except Medina International Airport, and told Britons wishing to leave to consider going by land to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE or Jordan. Left · 1Al Jazeera reports five attacks on Saudi airports in less than a week. A Houthi strike on King Khalid airport on Saturday killed 13 people and injured more than 300, which it calls the deadliest attack on Saudi Arabia in over a decade.

Mixed · 2On Sunday a projectile struck Terminal 4 at King Khalid airport, killing one person and injuring 11, according to Saudi civil aviation authorities. No group had claimed it, though the Houthis claimed the four earlier strikes, and an incoming cruise missile was reported intercepted near the airport. Mixed · 2King Khalid airport and King Fahd airport in Dammam remain closed, and flights to and from Jeddah were disrupted, with more than 150 cancelled and 374 delayed on Sunday according to Flightradar24. Saudi authorities extended the Riyadh closure and moved schools online until Thursday. Right · 1The Houthis have warned airlines, passengers and airport staff to avoid Saudi airports, saying "the worst is yet to come" if Riyadh continues its military campaign in Yemen, and claimed a Saudi airstrike on Sana'a on Sunday killed a child and injured six. The Saudi-led coalition has vowed to "respond firmly".

Right · 1US President Donald Trump said he is weighing whether to join the Saudi campaign ("We're going to look into it"); Washington provides intelligence and targeting help and has around 200 military advisers in the kingdom. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey pledged on Monday to accelerate their mutual defence pact, and the UK has pledged defensive support including aircraft refuelling. Mixed · 2Singapore-based analyst Brendan Sobie told Al Jazeera it is too early to predict the effect on regional aviation, which depends on how long Riyadh airport stays closed and what restrictions follow reopening; GB News notes fears the Houthis could resume attacks on shipping in the Bab al-Mandab strait.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
