The story, neutrally told

Left · 2Sony announced a Prism Collection of PlayStation 5 accessories on Wednesday 28 October, made up of translucent DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers. Left · 2The collection comes in three colours: flare orange, emerald green and graphite gray. Left · 2The controllers cost $84.99 (about $85) and the console covers $74.99 (about $75).

Left · 2Preorders start on 10 November through PlayStation's online store and participating retailers, and the products become available on 4 February 2027. Left · 1According to Wired, translucent plastic covers almost the entire controller frame so the internal components are visible, while the console covers show only the fan and a few other parts. Left · 1Sony's PlayStation blog said the line was inspired by its design teams' interest in bringing a transparent look to the PS5 and giving players a closer look at the design and craftsmanship of the controllers and consoles.

Left · 1Wired says the prices are roughly in line with existing products, though at the higher end: basic-colour controllers start at $74 and covers around $59. Left · 2Both outlets place the launch in a wider revival of see-through hardware: The Verge notes Microsoft's earlier 25th-anniversary Xbox Series X with a translucent green finish, while Wired cites the iMac, PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Color as precedents. Left · 1Wired also links the announcement to Sony's July decision to end production of physical game discs from 2028, which ownership advocates have criticised.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
