The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2An Israeli strike on the Islamic University in Gaza City killed three people on Sunday 25 October 2026, according to university staff and a local hospital. Left · 2Al Shifa hospital said it received three bodies and treated eight wounded people from the drone strike. Al Jazeera's correspondent reported at least seven injured. Left · 2Two sources at the university told AFP that those killed were administrative staff and the injured were students. Al Jazeera described the two strikes as hitting students and security guards.

Left · 1The university said its campus and surroundings were targeted twice that day, and it condemned the attacks and mourned the dead. Centre · 1Gaza's education ministry said students had been present for classes. It condemned the strike, saying "the global silence regarding attacks on students and universities serves as encouragement for the continuation of these crimes". It said 95 percent of academic buildings had been damaged in the war and that 10 students and educators had been killed over the past six days. Mixed · 2Asked for comment, the Israeli military first said it was looking into the reports. In a later statement it said it had been targeting a Hamas military-wing member and that after identifying uninvolved individuals nearby, the munition was diverted to mitigate harm to them. It said the incident is under review, without specifying whether those killed at the university were hit by accident.

Left · 1Gaza civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Bassal reported other deaths elsewhere in the territory that day: four in the earlier AFP report, raised to five in the later one, in Khan Yunis, Deir al Balah and northern areas. Centre · 1A truce has been in effect in Gaza for over a year but has not completely halted the violence.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
