The story, neutrally told

Police in Oxford, Mississippi, responded to a suspected overdose involving a 22-year-old on the morning of Thursday 1 October. The Oxford Police Department said officers and emergency personnel went to a residence at around 5 a.m., where the person was found unresponsive; EMS revived them and they are expected to be OK. Police said the person had synthetic kratom products in their possession and is not a student.

Police said the incident is not connected to the recent death investigations and is "not student-related". The two University of Mississippi students, Aidan Hamilton, 18, and Robert Strang, 20, were found dead on 21 September with synthetic kratom nearby, and officials have not released a cause of death. Officials are treating the two student deaths as separate incidents.

Police said there is no indication the kratom found in Thursday's case was bought in the Oxford area; Fox News called it a developing story.

Emphasis
The synthetic kratom link and police's insistence the case is unrelated to the student deaths.
Leaves out or plays down
Neither gives a cause of death for the students beyond noting officials haven't released one (Fox); neither names a source for the kratom.
