The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The campaign of Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico says it raised $64 million in the third quarter of 2026. Mixed · 2NBC News says the sum would break the third-quarter record set in 2020 by South Carolina Democrat Jaime Harrison, who raised $57 million in three months in an unsuccessful campaign. Just the News describes it as the largest third-quarter haul in Senate campaign history. Mixed · 2The campaign says it has raised more than $134 million over the cycle, almost entirely from contributions of $100 or less from more than 1.3 million individuals. Just the News, citing Politico, puts the total at $134.3 million.

Left · 1Talarico said in a statement that "grassroots contributors from across Texas are coming together to end billionaire control over our politics and bring down costs for working families." Left · 1His opponent, Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton, announced earlier this month that his campaign and two affiliated fundraising vehicles raised a combined $18 million in the quarter. Left · 1NBC News said it could not independently confirm the figures beyond what the campaigns shared. Full Federal Election Commission reports, due Thursday night, will show how much was raised and spent and whether affiliated committees are included.

Left · 1AdImpact data cited by NBC News show Talarico's campaign spent more than $20 million on ads in the last month. The same data show Republican outside groups have spent more than $175 million boosting Paxton and attacking Talarico since Sept. 1. Mixed · 2Both outlets say Talarico leads in polling but that the race has narrowed. NBC News describes the lead as narrow and mostly within the margin of error. Right · 1Talarico won the Democratic nomination over Rep. Jasmine Crockett. Paxton ousted Sen. John Cornyn in what Just the News calls a bitter Republican primary.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
