The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2Titus Welliver returned to the role of Harry Bosch on 27 October 2026 by narrating the audiobook edition of The Hollow, Michael Connelly's latest novel. Centre · 1He shares narration duties with Cameron Monaghan, who is due to play a younger Bosch in MGM+'s prequel series Bosch: Start of Watch, set in 1991 Los Angeles. Centre · 1The audiobook is published by Hachette Audio and is available through Audible, Apple Books and other digital retailers; Screen Rant lists it at $24.99 from the publisher and $16.99 on Apple Books.

Centre · 2Screen Rant gives the print edition as a 352-page hardcover with a $32 retail price, which Amazon was selling at $16, and a $14.99 Kindle edition; Collider says the UK hardcover follows on 5 November. Centre · 2In the book, Bosch returns to his childhood at the MacLaren Children's Center, where he was placed as a ward of the state after his mother's murder. A settlement for former residents entitles him to $400,000, according to his half-brother, defence attorney Mickey Haller, but Bosch says he does not want the money and instead investigates the covered-up death of a fellow resident nicknamed Chops, whose body was found in a hidden space under a staircase known as "the hollow". Centre · 2Welliver played Bosch for seven seasons of Bosch and three more of Bosch: Legacy, which ended in 2025; Screen Rant says the ending left the character's future uncertain as the franchise shifted attention to the Ballard spin-off.

Centre · 1According to Screen Rant, Welliver has said he will appear in three episodes of Ballard Season 2 alongside Maggie Q; production has wrapped, Prime Video has not announced a release date, and Connelly previously suggested late 2026 or early 2027. Centre · 1Screen Rant adds that in July 2026 Welliver said he had discussed a possible standalone Bosch movie with Connelly and producer Henrik Bastin, though nothing has been greenlit.
