The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Jason Kamal, 48, and Ashley Hillsley, 21, wore high-visibility tops as they raided an Ann Summers store in Long Row, Nottingham city centre, in the early hours of August 14. Mixed · 2Officers received a report of a burglary in progress at 4.32am; police said the offenders smashed a window to get in, and officers arrived and arrested both men as they tried to run away within three minutes of the call. Mixed · 2Police found £12,059 worth of Ann Summers products, including lingerie and sex toys, in the boot of Hillsley's vehicle.

Mixed · 2Kamal initially denied entering the store, but his face was visible on CCTV. Hillsley claimed he was "bullied" into the burglary, that his role was to be lookout and assist, and that he was told he would get a large sum of money and would no longer be "a nobody", according to the force. Mixed · 2Kamal, of no fixed address, was also linked to an earlier burglary, on July 28, at Professional Mobile in Front Street, Arnold, where he stole £13,000 worth of electronic devices, left a vape with his DNA on it and was later found using a stolen phone from the shop. Mixed · 2At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, Kamal was given a three-year prison sentence for both burglaries, while Hillsley, of Big Barn Lane, Mansfield, received a community order for the Ann Summers burglary; police said the evidence left them no option but to plead guilty.

Mixed · 2Chief Inspector Kylie Davies of Nottinghamshire Police said the pair were "not mastermind criminals" and had no chance of getting away with it, praised the officers who detained them and recovered the goods, and said "Business crime is not a victimless crime."

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
