The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1The UAE began airlifting food aid to Gaza on Friday 9 October under the newly launched Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge, which aims to supply more than 10 million meals to Palestinians. Centre · 2Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 launched the flights from Al Maktoum International Airport, carrying food parcels. Centre · 1The initiative was launched to recognise the generosity and philanthropic work of Sheikh Ahmed, brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, who died on 21 September.

Centre · 2Volunteers, community members and admirers of Sheikh Ahmed gathered at Dubai World Trade Centre to prepare the food packages for families and children in Gaza. Centre · 1The bridge is to run by air and sea in seven consignments: six flights carrying 450 tonnes of food parcels and one vessel carrying 4,000 tonnes of supplies. Centre · 1Hammoud Al Afari, director of UAE relief operations under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, said the flights reflect the efficiency and expertise of the Emirati teams involved, and that the operation, launched in November 2023 on the directive of President Sheikh Mohamed, has been a lifeline for Palestinians.

Centre · 1The National reported that, since the operation began, the UAE has provided more than $4 billion in humanitarian assistance to Gaza, which it put at 46 per cent of global humanitarian aid since 2023, including 130,708 tonnes of supplies delivered by 796 aircraft, 25 ships and 14,483 lorries. Centre · 1On 13 October, Gulf News, carrying a WAM report from Al Arish, said food aid under the bridge had entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Crossing. Centre · 1The operation team at the UAE Humanitarian Aid Logistics Centre in the Egyptian city of Al Arish prepared, loaded and transported the aid to the crossing.

Centre · 1The National described MBRGI as the region's largest humanitarian and community development foundation, with expenditure above Dh2.3 billion in 2025, a figure the outlet reports without independent verification.
