The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1The UAE's National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecast five days of unsettled weather, with possible rain, strong winds, blowing dust and fog or mist in some areas. Centre · 2The forecast window moved in later bulletins: Gulf News's Thursday 29 October report said chances of rain would continue until Monday 2 November, and The National also reported rain until Monday. Centre · 2Rain is expected mainly in eastern and northern areas, from convective clouds that may extend to some inland regions. The National added that hail is expected in some eastern and northern areas, and that colder weather is forecast in some eastern and northern regions.

Centre · 1The National reported that hail and heavy showers had already hit several areas that week, with the highest rainfall recorded by the NCM at 38mm in Masafi. Heavy rain reached parts of Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman, Dubai and Al Dhafra. Centre · 2Winds are forecast to be light to moderate but fresh to strong at times, raising dust. Gulf News gave speeds of up to 50km/h in mountainous areas and 45km/h inland, with 40km/h from Friday through Monday. The National cited gusts of up to 45kph. Centre · 2Temperatures are forecast at 35°C to 39°C inland, 33°C to 37°C on the coast and islands, and 26°C to 32°C in the mountains, according to Gulf News's Thursday report. The National gave a slightly lower inland range of 35°C to 38°C.

Centre · 2Humidity is expected to rise overnight, with mist or fog possible in some coastal and inland areas, particularly in the west. Sea conditions are expected to stay slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea. Centre · 2The NCM attributed the pattern to an extension of a surface low-pressure system accompanied by an upper-air low-pressure system. The National urged residents to follow authorities' updates and warnings, particularly when travelling through areas affected by rain, blowing dust or reduced visibility.
