Centre · 1Gulf News, reporting on the alert, said the mission cited public threats by Yemen's Houthis against airports and airspace across the kingdom, and said the Houthis had engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports, with potential for the conflict to escalate. Centre · 1Americans were advised to prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and other travel disruption, to check flight status with airlines and airports, and not to travel near the Saudi-Yemen border. Centre · 1US government employees in Saudi Arabia are barred from travelling within 20 miles (32km) of the Yemen border, and need special authorisation to go to Jizan, Asir and Najran provinces and to Qatif, Yanbu and Taif.

Centre · 1In the event of an aerial attack, citizens were told to stay away from windows, glass doors and fallen debris, monitor official guidance and local media, and keep phones charged; they were also urged to avoid demonstrations, large gatherings and areas with heavy police presence, and to keep a low profile. Centre · 1Anadolu Agency noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had earlier said the US intends to uphold its bilateral security commitments with Saudi Arabia amid renewed military confrontations involving Houthi forces in Yemen.
