The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1US stocks ended higher on Thursday 15 October after a shaky start that followed disappointing inflation data, and pressure on artificial intelligence shares eased somewhat, according to CNA. Centre · 1Anadolu Agency reported that the Dow Jones industrial average gained 556.21 points, or 1.08%, to 52,177.69. Centre · 1Anadolu's report is inconsistent on the other indexes. Its opening summary says the S&P 500 gained 0.33% and the Nasdaq 0.08%, but the body says the S&P 500 fell 0.33% to 7,744.06 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.08% to 26,713.03. The headline says the exchanges closed higher, and the reported point moves match the percentages, so the direction of those two indexes is unclear from the coverage.

Centre · 1The VIX volatility index fell 2.43% to 16.46. Centre · 1On data, the US Producer Price Index rose 1.3% month over month and 6.3% year over year in September, above expectations. Anadolu said this was the highest monthly reading since March 2022 and the highest annual reading since December 2022. Retail sales rose 0.8% in September, also above expectations, and initial jobless claims rose to 199,000 for the week ending 10 October, in line with expectations. Centre · 1Technology shares fell: Nvidia dropped nearly 2%, AMD 1.5% and Intel about 3%. Gains elsewhere offset this: Eli Lilly rose 3.5%, UnitedHealth 2.8% and Walmart 1.5%.

Centre · 1Anadolu said selling in AI-related stocks pushed investors toward government bonds, with the 10-year Treasury yield down 10 basis points to 5.09% and the 30-year down nine basis points to 5.43%. Centre · 1Barclays analysts said they had seen signs that top executives were considering a merger between SpaceX and Tesla. SpaceX shares closed down 2.3% and Tesla down 1.3%. Centre · 1Investors are awaiting a speech by Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh on Friday at the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings.

Centre · 1European markets ended mixed. The Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.38% to 640.16, the FTSE 100 rose 1.08%, the DAX 0.33% and the CAC 40 0.78%, while Italy's FTSE MIB fell 0.72% and Spain's IBEX 35 fell 0.28%.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.

Framing
Both centre outlets give a market-close report. CNA leads on a recovery from a shaky start as AI-share pressure eased. Anadolu leads on tech losses offset by gains in other sectors, and adds macro data, bond yields and European markets.
Emphasis
Index moves, inflation and retail data, the AI-stock selloff and its effect on Treasury yields, and the upcoming Fed Chairman speech.
Leaves out or plays down
CNA's text gives little beyond the lede. Anadolu's report contradicts itself on the direction of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq, and the coverage does not resolve this.
Charged language
“bounced back”“shaky start”“down sharply”
For example
“US stocks end higher as AI shares stabilise” — CNA
“The New York Stock Exchange closed higher for the day as losses in some technology stocks were offset by gains in other sectors.” — Anadolu Agency
