The story, neutrally told

Netflix announced on 30 September 2026 that production on the third season of Wednesday has officially wrapped, and released a new photo of Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams sitting at a typewriter. Netflix shared the news on social media with the message “Season 3 has officially wrapped”. Radio Times reports that filming began in February in Ireland, while Variety says the season was shot in Paris and Dublin. Deadline, Collider and The A.V. Club report a 2027 premiere. Radio Times says no official release date has been revealed. The Hollywood Reporter says post-production effects work means a long wait, though a return next fall seems very plausible given season 2's eight-month turnaround after wrapping.

Season 3 adds Eva Green as Ophelia Frump, Morticia's sister, along with Winona Ryder, Lena Headey, Chris Sarandon and Andrew McCarthy, while Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, Emma Myers and Hunter Doohan return. Screen Rant says Ortega recently said season 3 is set during Wednesday's senior year at Nevermore Academy. Outlets note the show's record: season 1 is Netflix's most-watched English-language series, and season 2 ranks among its all-time most-watched seasons, though the outlets give different ranks (No. 10 of all titles per Variety, No. 6 among English-language seasons per The Hollywood Reporter and Digital Spy).

Separately, Collider reports that Jenny Ayumi, Ortega's longtime stunt double, posted Instagram Stories after the wrap reading “A 5 year chapter finally comes to a close”, plus a throwback photo from the original Romania production. The first post has since been deleted. Collider says Netflix has not announced that season 3 is the final season, so the comments should not be treated as confirmation of a cancellation or planned ending. It speculates that Ayumi may have misunderstood or been asked to take the post down. None of the other outlets covered here mention a possible series end.
