The story, neutrally told

The White House removed CNN from the press pool covering President Donald Trump's Thursday trip, NBC News reported on Wednesday. A rotation document released on Sunday had scheduled CNN to travel with Trump, but the daily guidance for a truck plant visit in Denton, Texas, and remarks in Durant, Oklahoma, did not list it. The move came less than a week after a federal judge paused Trump's effort to ban CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House.

The judge's order covered only access to White House grounds. Over the weekend the White House also kept CNN off Air Force One for Trump's Tennessee trip, though the network was scheduled for pool duty. CNN spokesperson Emily Kuhn confirmed the removal without further comment and pointed to a Monday statement by attorney Theodore Boutrous, who called the ban "a blatant violation of the First Amendment and due process".

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, so its reason for the exclusion is not given. The White House Correspondents' Association, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and 49 media organizations filed a brief backing the outlets, and Fox News, ABC News, CBS News and NBC News briefly stopped pool duties in solidarity. NBC News noted that in 2025 Trump barred the Associated Press from the Oval Office and Air Force One over the Gulf of Mexico naming; the AP sued and that case continues.

Framing
Both outlets present the removal as a further step against CNN after a court setback for the administration. NBC leads with an escalating feud; Raw Story, aggregating NBC, stresses it as the second exclusion since the ruling.
Emphasis
The timing after the judge's ruling, CNN's First Amendment argument, and broad support from press groups and rival networks.
Leaves out or plays down
No White House explanation or position is given beyond noting it did not respond. No centre or right outlets covered it, so no counter-framing appears.
Charged language
“escalating a feud”“shuts CNN out”
