The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, Pennsylvania, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son, identified in the complaint only as T.H., were found fatally stabbed in a room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pocono Township. Left · 1Authorities responded on Monday after a 911 call about a suicidal caller; according to the complaint, the caller said she was "too weak to stab my neck," that knives were "not working," and that she needed "help dying." Mixed · 2On the call she allegedly said her husband and son were "already gone" and said "I'm sorry"; ABC News, citing the complaint, reports she did not request help for them at any point.

Left · 1Both victims were found dead on mattresses in the room; the complaint says Charles Harrison had multiple stab wounds to the chest and the boy appeared to have a single stab wound to the chest. Left · 1Harrison had cuts on her left wrist and superficial punctures to the neck and was taken to a local hospital; the complaint says authorities saw no defensive wounds on her body. Mixed · 2In the ambulance she allegedly said, "Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn't supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family."

Mixed · 2The New York Post, citing the affidavit, adds that she asked medics how deep her vein was so she would know for "next time"; ABC reports instead that she said she had taken blood-thinning medication and was frustrated that her blood was clotting. Mixed · 2When a detective read her Miranda warning, she reportedly said she was "suicidal, not stupid" and declined to speak with police. Mixed · 2Investigators found two knives, which the resort said were not the type it keeps; ABC says a "large butcher kitchen knife" and a smaller knife were in the bathroom, and the Post says the knives had teal handles. The Post also reports containers that appeared to hold blood, medication bottles, and 80 to 90 pieces of evidence recovered from Room 2030.

Mixed · 2Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso called it a "violent domestic tragedy," and Pocono Township police said it was an isolated incident with no threat to the community. Mixed · 2The family checked in on Sept. 21 and was due to check out Tuesday; the Post says they extended the stay on Oct. 5. Mixed · 2Great Wolf Lodge said it was "deeply saddened and heartbroken" and is cooperating fully with law enforcement.

Mixed · 2Harrison awaits a preliminary hearing, and the online docket lists no attorney; the Post says she remained hospitalized and unarraigned Tuesday night, and the coroner said autopsies would take place later this week. The allegations are unproven.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
