The story, neutrally told

Left · 2Amy Jones, 23, is accused of going to her former school, Rufus King International High School in Milwaukee, on September 24 and posing as a substitute teacher, according to Milwaukee County officials. Left · 1A criminal complaint, as reported by local outlet WISN, says students told a school resource officer that she used profane language, racial slurs, sexually derogatory statements and organised students by race and gender. The Independent says she spent nearly three class periods doing this before she was escorted out. Left · 2A 16-year-old boy told authorities that she called one student "fat boy", asked another if she wanted to be a stripper or a hooker, and told two white students they were the type to start school shootings. Fox6 News Milwaukee reported that she also asked whether students had a vape or weed.

Left · 1Metro adds that Jones allegedly scouted the school for a week, got past security by blending in with students, and went to a classroom set up by another teacher, who stayed with her for 20 minutes. After that teacher left, she allegedly played loud rap music and bragged about being fine with going to jail. Left · 1Principal Doreen Badillo told authorities that eight teachers had called in sick that day and only seven positions were filled, so she believed Jones "got lucky". Police escorted Jones out after the principal learned of the situation. Left · 2Police say Jones told them she went to the school "because she was bored", that she "hates kids" and that she "just wanted to f*** around".

Left · 2Jones faces six felony charges: one count of impersonating a public employee and five counts of exposing a child to harmful descriptions. The maximum sentence is 21 years if she is convicted. Jail records show she was taken into custody on a Thursday, and her preliminary hearing is set for October 20. Left · 2Her defence team has said she is managing bipolar disorder and had a problem with her medication on the day of the incident. Left · 1In statements to the school community, Badillo said Jones went through the school's safety scan but that the school office "did not follow proper district protocol in validating the individual as a substitute teacher". A later statement, sent October 5, said Jones was a former student recognised by staff and not a substitute teacher. It said police school resource officers and the district's Title IX coordinator were notified, and that Milwaukee Public Schools is running its own investigation.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.

Framing
Both UK outlets lead with the allegation that Jones posed as a substitute teacher because she "hates kids", and rely on the criminal complaint as reported by US local outlets. Their headlines stress her stated motive. Metro's is in scare quotes, and the Independent's says she went in 'just to' berate teens.
Emphasis
The specific insults and remarks quoted from the complaint, her reported statement to police, the charges and the 21-year maximum. Metro adds the security lapse and the district's statements.
Leaves out or plays down
Neither has comment from Jones or her lawyers beyond the bipolar and medication claim. The Independent says it has asked the school district for comment. The Independent leaves out the security lapse and the district's protocol statement.
Charged language
“mayhem”“stunt”“faked being a substitute teacher”
For example
“Woman faked being a substitute teacher just to go into class and berate the teens” — The Independent
“causing mayhem in a class full of students” — Metro
