The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Russian technology and AI company Yandex said on Sunday 11 October that a drone attack had damaged its infrastructure and completely shut down its data centre in the Vladimir region. Centre · 1Yandex said no one was injured, but some of its services were unavailable to users. Left · 1According to Al Jazeera, emergency services were at the site and Yandex was evaluating ways to restore its systems.

Left · 1In a Telegram service alert, Yandex said operations at the data centre were "completely suspended", advised users to activate disaster-recovery plans, and said the platform was in emergency mode with the remaining resource configuration "unstable". Mixed · 2The outlets describe it as the third Yandex data centre knocked out or damaged within days. Centre · 1On Friday, Yandex said its Kaluga-region data centre, southwest of Moscow, was struck by Ukrainian drones and partly put out of action.

Centre · 1A day earlier, a Ukrainian attack shut down Yandex's data hub in Sasovo, southeast of Moscow, where two of the three supercomputers used to develop its AI model are housed. Left · 1Al Jazeera quotes Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy saying after the Sasovo strike: "We always respond in mirror-like fashion", adding that Russia has been hitting Ukrainian data centres. Left · 1Al Jazeera adds that Russia has struck several Ukrainian data centres and telecoms facilities over the past month, including in central Kyiv, in an apparent effort to disrupt connectivity and digital commerce.

Mixed · 2The reports do not say who launched the Vladimir attack; Yandex's statement as reported attributes it to drones, and the earlier Kaluga and Sasovo strikes are described as Ukrainian.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
