The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The New York Yankees were swept 3-0 by the Tampa Bay Rays, losing the deciding game 4-3 at Yankee Stadium. Mixed · 2Fox News describes the series as the American League Division Series, with the Rays advancing to the ALCS. Gulf News calls it the ALCS. Right · 1Fox News reports the Yankees scored five runs in the three games and hit .130. It says they were one-hit in Game 1, made three errors in the first four batters of Game 2, and that the loss extends their World Series drought to 17 seasons, tying their longest since 1923.

Mixed · 2Speaking on Fox's postgame show, Alex Rodriguez said "Something has to change". He said he meant philosophy rather than personnel, and that he was not saying anyone should lose their job. Mixed · 2Rodriguez said general manager Brian Cashman needs people who understand baseball and value both sides of the ball. He noted that, with Aaron Judge out, it was unclear who would play five of the nine positions, and said the team had been "watching the same movie for over a decade". Mixed · 2Derek Jeter said the Rays had been the best team in the league and played better than the Yankees all season. Asked how to fix the Yankees, Gulf News reports he said "I don't know", while Fox reports he admitted he had no real plan.

Right · 1Fox quotes Jeter as saying his Yankees teams won through "all the little things" and that in this series the Yankees beat themselves. It also quotes former Red Sox player David Ortiz saying the team is missing a culture. Right · 1Fox says Rodriguez had called last year's roster construction "one of the worst" he had seen, and that the Yankees ran back largely the same team.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
