The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The Yemeni army said on Sunday 4 October that 97 operations against Houthi military reinforcements had killed 260 Houthi fighters. Mixed · 2Army spokesman Col. Majed al-Nuzaili (spelled Al-Nazili by Arab News) said the operations used warplanes or fighter jets, drones, artillery, missiles and snipers. Mixed · 2He said 44 military vehicles, transport vehicles and supply assets were destroyed or damaged.

Mixed · 2Anadolu Agency places the operations on fronts in Taiz and Lahj provinces. Arab News names the Tur Al-Baha front and the Taiz axis, and leads with airstrikes on Houthi targets in the northern province of Saada. Right · 1Arab News quotes the spokesman as saying: "The Houthi militia's capabilities will not be safe from the fire of our armed forces, and we will destroy them." It describes the Houthis as an Iran-backed group. Mixed · 2Anadolu says the announcement came hours after the army claimed at least 700 Houthi fighters were killed in 257 operations on several fronts. Arab News says the military also reported earlier this week a "high-value targeting operation" in Sanaa and strikes on 11 targets in Saada.

Centre · 1Anadolu reports there was no comment from the Houthis on the army's claims, and the casualty figures are not independently verified in either report. Centre · 1Anadolu gives the background: Yemen has been in conflict since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in 2014, a Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015, and a 2022 truce collapsed in July, after which fighting escalated.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
