The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Nicholas Rowe and Alan Cox, who played teenage Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in Barry Levinson's 1985 film Young Sherlock Holmes, are returning to the Holmes world 41 years later in a new audio drama, Radio Times reported. Centre · 1The audio drama is called Sir Sherlock: The Doctor’s Son. According to Radio Times it was funded entirely by fans on Kickstarter within four hours, and it is the fourth tale in the Sir Sherlock expansion. Centre · 1Rowe and Cox do not play Holmes and Watson this time. Rowe voices Norton, a friend of Lestrade, and Cox plays Damien Barrett, a young man who resembles the missing Watson. Tom Baker plays Sherlock, John Leeson voices Dr John Watson and Katy Ashworth plays Emily Lestrade.

Centre · 1In the plot, Watson vanishes from his room at 221b Baker Street and a ransom note is delivered by a young man who claims to be Watson's illegitimate son. Sherlock then teams up with Lestrade and Norton to find him. Centre · 1Cox said working with Rowe again felt "just like old times" and that the script included callbacks to Young Sherlock Holmes. The drama is created by AUK Studios and written, produced and directed by Barnaby Eaton-Jones. Centre · 1Separately, Screen Rant wrote about The Death of Sherlock Holmes, a TV series on Sky that it says is aiming for a 2027 release. It was created by Claudia Bluemhuber, André Küttel and Pierre Monnard and is mostly based on "The Final Problem" and "The Adventure of the Empty House".

Centre · 1Rafe Spall plays Holmes, with Thomas Kaschel as Watson and Christian Koerner as Mycroft Holmes. The show is set in 1891 in Switzerland, where Holmes survives the Reichenbach Falls with amnesia and is taken in by villager Alma Kohler (Deleila Piasko). He investigates when her son is accused of killing the town doctor. Centre · 1Screen Rant argues the show fills the gap the books call Holmes's travels after his apparent death, known as "the Great Hiatus", and calls this the 123-year-old mystery it will solve. It says the series could also show how Holmes regains his memory, a detail not in the books. Centre · 1Screen Rant also notes that Prime Video's Young Sherlock, which explores Holmes's early years, is preparing its second season. The two articles cover different projects, and neither links them.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
